Welcome and Introduction

The first day at the first iWeekend in Ahmedabad kicked off at the Centre for Innovation,Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management. with great enthusiasm and innovation being brought forth by over 15 entrepreneurs who presented the ideas from across the board. The agenda for the day 1 consisted of a networking hour followed by the presentation of ideas from over 15 entries. .The platform provided an excellent opportunity for the participants to interact and network with like minded people and grow their network. With over 50 participants the event saw a wide variety of ideas on display. The ideas ranged from providing homemaking solutions to providing an answer of how to bypass the brokers when it came down to trading of export/import licenses. Among other ideas were various with the intention of pursuing social entrepreneurship like the idea of collecting garbage and recycling the same and the idea of providing NGOs a network and help them grow seemed promising.The first day involved the first of the elimination leg of the weekend with 8 ideas being short listed to go forward to Day 2. The eliminations were completely done in a democratic manner by asking the participants to vote for the best 8 ideas. The event which finishes the Indian Leg of the iWeekend initiative follows successful events in Delhi and Bangalore. This was then followed by dinner and further networking opportunity for the participants.
